Ukrainian legal profession asks for support
The Ukrainian National Bar Association is asking for donations for affected colleagues.
Lawyers in Ukraine, like the rest of the population, are seriously affected by the war and suffer from the destruction and shortages of food and fuel, which drastically complicate everyday life.
The Ukrainian National Lawyers Association is asking for donations in order to be able to financially support the affected colleagues.
The Ukrainian National Bar Association (UNBA) has published a recent report in which it expresses its gratitude, among other things, for the donations received in the amount of over 300,000 USD. According to the Bar, 30% of the donors were private individuals, 70% legal entities. UNBA was particularly keen not only to thank the committed donors from the bottom of its heart, but also to name them personally and inform them about the use of the donations. The situation in Ukraine continues to be devastating, so help and support are still urgently needed. In future, donations no longer have to be made by bank transfer only, but can be made via the Benvity Causes portal.
The UNBA donation report can be viewed here.
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Thank you very much for your continuous and solid support, which we feel every second of this dreadful and challenging time. We never thought we would need financial assistance from anyone but now everything has dramatically changed. Putin’s army is killing our civilians and destroying our homes. Ukrainian attorneys, their families, small children and elderly parents are dying, suffering and in fear. Just this morning a Russian rocket struck the apartment of one of our Kyiv city attorneys, and only by a miracle she is still alive. Yuliya is a real hero because not only did she survive the attack, but she immediately saved several small children from the debris of this building and brought them to a safe shelter. Many other of our colleagues are experiencing similar traumas from this unwanted war of Russian aggression.
Our colleagues and partners are in critical need of financial support. Inflation and currency devaluation, combined with food and fuel shortages are making daily life severely difficult. Unfortunately, the remaining funds of the National Bar Association are near empty. We kindly ask you to give financial assistance now to support our Ukrainian attorneys and our families. Below are the banking details of the Ukrainian National Bar Association. Please share this letter among your friends, family and colleagues. We need your support now more than ever.
Thank you very much.
Update:
If you encounter a problem with the transfer, please contact your bank. For many private bank accounts, the foreign IBAN numbers are too long. In this case, please contact your bank and make the transfer via a sales order. The correctness of the bank details has been checked. The donations from many EU countries and via some German banks have already arrived in Ukraine. Please note that the donation is to be transferred as a normal foreign bank transfer (not as a SEPA transfer).
Account holder is "Ukrainian National Bar Association".
Unfortunately, the DAV cannot issue donation receipts, thank you for your understanding.
Thank you for your support.
